I recently received an e-mail from a fellow I was stationed with in the Navy, we both worked in the Comm. Center at the Naval Facility, Argentia, Newfoundland, 1969. He had just learned of the passing of another "shipmate" and was passing the info on to me.
His e-mail jogged my memory and I went looking for some pictures I took way back then, 1969.
Argentia was 70 miles from the port city of St. John's, the capital of the province of Newfoundland.
For R&R us "Yanks" would go into St. John's. I always had my camera in hand.
I happened to come across the Portuguese White (fishing) Fleet, probably about 2-3 dozen boats.
With camera I went aboard and climbed from deck to deck snapping these pictures. Definitely an old world scene, now, 45 years later, even more so. Have a look...
