The friendly sky's around JFK

Anyone living in the southwest corner of Nassau County, Long Island, NY is ever aware of their proximity to JFK International Airport. The flights arriving and departing JFK are as familiar sights in the sky as the sun, moon and clouds are. Because the aircraft are such fixture people hardly look up with any curiosity.

I did point my telephotos lens skyward and captured aircraft from every continent and every corner of the globe. Take a look....

Digital photography meets Victorian craftsmanship.

Connie and I attended a luncheon/reception held at the Original (1906) Rumson, NJ firehouse. The  historic building is now used by the local Junior League. What caught my eye as we entered were the restored pressed tin ceilings and walls.

Such painted embossed tin plate panels were common in the US during 1839-1901 Victorian era. They were designed as a substitute for plaster work found in the wealthiest European households.

After the reception, I turned my camera to capture the various designs found throughout the room.
Take a look....

These images can be enhanced with color, matted and framed. I find it an interesting subject!

Avoiding the sweltering heat!

We are fortunate to live so close to the ocean and have the cabana at Malibu to take advantage of on these blistering hot Summer days. These photos taken yesterday, a Friday, are an example.

The nearby Federally protected nesting area is home to Royal Terns, Black Skimmers, American Oyster catchers and various Gulls.  Enjoy the sights!

                                                       A nice ocean breeze prevails!

The once postponed 4th of July fireworks from Long Beach, NY was held on a beautiful July 9th evening.
