The ever changing scenery of nature!

I realize, blog posting after blog posting, I must sound like a broken record.  I am always making reference to living on the Marlwood Preserve and  beautiful scenery that nature provides us on a daily basis.
This blog will be no different. The photos you are about to view took place over a four day period.
Super Bowl Sunday morning two baby Sand Hill Cranes hatched in the nest behind our home.  It was the 30th day of the incubation, right on schedule. But it is most unusual to have two eggs hatch.
Two days later, we experienced torrential rains of over 3.5+ inches in 48 hour period. The "ecco" system of the preserve changed.  The birds, animals, insects, etc. were driven from their usual haunts to higher ground.
I had to purchased a pair of boots to navigate our back yard which was under water.
Lets take a look for your enjoyment.  For the sake of brevity,  I'll limit it to 16 pictures!

Backyard photos from the Month of January

For some reason or reasons that not even the long time bird and wildlife watchers can explain there has been an abundance of species of Florida wading birds and other wild life the month of January.  Take a look and enjoy!  It has been great fun and a lot of "work" for nature photographers.

Perhaps its the great weather!

Nearly a dozen Wood Storks lined up!

An American Robin wintering on Florida's SE Coast.

A Sand Hill Crane nears the end of the 28-31 day incubation period.

What's Florida without snakes?

A curious hawk looks behind himself.

Now for a front look!  Still skeptical!

A Yellowlegs spots his reflection!

A pair of great egrets, a small snowy and nearly 20 Roseate Spoon Bills.

A Glossy Ibis shows his colors.

A pair of Anhinga battle in the water.

A Tricolor Heron.

Roseate Spoon Bills perched for sunset.

The sun sets on another day!!!!

PGA's Artist of Month for February 2012

For the second year, Connie is displaying her artwork as the PGA National Artist of the Month in the Member's Club lounge.

This year's exhibit features ten multi media art work pieces, i.e. Connie's own digital photographs enhanced by pastels.

This great white egret on water color paper is a favorite of the people viewing the exhibit.

The exhibit will end the end of the month.

Saturday morning on Flagler Drive

Saturday morning, Connie, along with thousands of others, participated in the Race for the Cure benefit walk for Breast Cancer research. The event was held in downtown West Palm Beach on Flagler Drive, along the Intracoastal Waterway.

This year paddle surfers join in.

Connie ends up in the arms of the law.
